Stella McCartney launches new site which exhibits her style and greener attributes

She’s far more than just the daughter of a Beatle although her last name certainly carries some clout and Stella McCartney has forged her own extremely successful career as a fashion designer that has grown significantly in the last 10 years for the 39 year old. What’s more Stella holds environmental matters in great esteem and has dedicated a great deal of her ingenuity and time to trying to better the planet both through increased awareness but also in the causes she supports as well as the items she sells. McCartney has launched a brand new website this week that looks to combine both her flair for fashion and her dedication to making the world a greener place.

While the site of course provides a selection of McCartney’s fashion and accessories including specially commissioned winter collections and a preview of her Summer 2011 work she also wanted the site to reflect a sense of who she is and the values that she holds to be important. After making your decision about the clothing (to purchase or just enjoy looking at her designs) she hopes that the site will also provide a doorway to green issues that perhaps customers haven’t yet considered and may encourage support for shared concerns. While the store provides easy navigation and previews of the clothing the sections that are especially worth looking at are ‘Stella’s World’ and her ‘Green Me’ pages on the site.

In these McCartney shares daily green tips with respect to her environmental philosophies in the “Green Me” section. Each provides a combination of stories and special features about green issues and shares the designer’s philosophies as well as encouraging people to take part and make a difference. The messages are artfully presented and you sense that her heart is as committed to her cause as it evidently is to her work. She shares her support for animal welfare, meatless monday and eco-friendly fashion underlined with her own participation. It is a really busy time for McCartney who celebrates a decade of her own line of fashion next year and will also be very involved as the creative director during the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics in conjunction with the Adidas Team. It would be hard to image Stella providing a more lasting effort to the memory of her mother Linda McCartney, herself a keen environmentalist and animal rights activist right up until her death in 1998. Hard to imagine that it has been that long.
