Should Eco-friendly Choices Be Part Of HBO’s Entourage?

It is no secret that Hollywood wants to give the perception of making eco-friendly choices and being green. Entourage, is a hit HBO show that follow the lives of movie star Vincent Chase and his posse – brother Johnny and friends E and Turtle.
The sixth season that started in July and was back in fine form following its main character on an upswing in his career. The episode centered on Vince trying to get his driver license though he is in his thirties. What I found a little surprising is that the episode featured all luxury SUV’s and gas guzzling sports cars. It seems ironic that the tag line for season six is “life changes, friends don’t”. If the boys are growing up than they may want to start showing a different side of them – a more environmentally aware side. Have them make eco-friendly choices rather than ones based on prestige or status.
If Entourage is supposed to hold a mirror up and go behind the scenes of Hollywood life why aren’t the eco friendly choices that are championed by stars not be a part of it? Now, maybe later in the season something will change, but perhaps those that chose the vehicles showcased in the episode could have made more eco-friendly choices? Even, if a Prius or other hybrid were not in character for Vince and his cronies, maybe one of the other cars in the scene could have been one.
Other television shows showcase eco friendly choices when it comes to vehicles. Case in point Sophie Tweed-Simmons on Gene Simmons Family Jewels drives a Smartcar. It was pretty funny to see Gene Simmons attempting to drive his daughter’s tiny car. The eco friendly car may have been for comic relief but it put it square in the public eye and associated with celebrities.
Entourage has always been seen as an apt portrayal of the Hollywood lifestyle and for that to be maintained, they need to go green, or at least give the perception of it. It’s time Vinnie made some eco-friendly choices.
