The Green MacGyver - An Eco Friendly Crafts Series Part VIII

Welcome back to the Green Macgyver eco-friendly craft series which is all about reusing and designing enjoyable crafts. This eco-friendly craft for kids is fun and once again, promotes creativity.
In Part VIII of the Green MacGyver eco-friendly craft series, follow these steps to make your own popsicle stick picture frame:
What you need:
8 popsicle sticks- Glue
- Paint of any colour
- Photograph that you want to Frame
- Scissors
- Cardboard (you can use an old cereal box)
- Yarn if you want to hang your frame
- Magnet (to adhere to the frame so it can display on the refrigerator)
- Any of the following items to decorate the frame: construction paper, yarn, stickers, nuts and bolts, fishing lures, ribbons, small fake flowers, golf tees, puzzle pieces, lace, stamps, wrapping paper, magazine cutouts, etc.
What you do:
- Glue the 8 Popsicle sticks with two side-by-side vertically on both sides of the frame, and two side-by-side horizontally on the top and bottom. After you glue the sticks together, allow time to dry.
- Let the child paint the frame and dry completely.
- After it’s dry, get creative with any items you choose to decorate.
- Cut the cardboard to match the size of the picture frame, then cut your photo (if necessary) to fit inside the frame’s opening.
- Glue the photo to the centre of the cardboard.
- Glue the cardboard to the popsicle sticks.
- To hang your frame, glue a piece of yarn to each of the top 2 corners on the back of the frame . For a magnetic frame, glue a magnet to the back.
And, your child’s custom-made picture frame makes for an excellent gift to give to a family member or friend. It’s a whole new way to appreciate popsicles with an innovative framed memory of a cherished moment. This eco-friendly craft is easy to implement for parents and entertaining for kids. Enjoy!
