If you are trying to a live greener lifestyles and love gum, than there is a product on the market that is just for you, Glee Gum.
It is made from sustainably harvested, renewable rainforest chicle and is a great product for those living greener lifestyles. It is a simple change that has a positive impact on the environment. For those that do not know “Chicle is the sap from the Sapodilla tree, which grows in the rainforests of Central America. Chicle was the original basis for all chewing gum, until synthetic gum bases were developed.
By using chicle, [they] support chicleros, the workers who tap trees for chicle. [Glee Gum] creates a use for the Sapodilla trees, which otherwise have economic value only as lumber”. Glee Glum would be ideal for those with dietary restrictions and allergies as it is “Vegetarian, Additive Free, Lactose Free, Dairy Free, Wheat Free, Gluten Free, Casein Free, Egg Free, Yeast Free, Nut Free, and Peanut Free.”
Trying to live greener lifestyles does not mean that you need miss out on flavor, as this gum comes in six great flavors: cinnamon, peppermint, tangerine, bubblegum, spearmint, and triple berry. According to their website “Glee Gum is the #1 healthy alternative to synthetic chewing gum and bubble gum! With no artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners (no aspartame), or preservatives.” The gum comes in different sizes of packages and there are bulk options and a cute gum dispenser you can buy for $20.00 USD.
Glee Gum also has kits available for kids, so they can make chocolate, chewing gum or Gummies, while learning about greener lifestyles. The kits they say connect “kids to the global community by tracing the origins of raw materials we encounter in our daily lives. [Their] gum kit uses natural chicle. [Their] chocolate kit includes organic cocoa butter from Costa Rica, and the gummy kit contains carrageenan made from seaweed from the Philippines.” It allows children to “make yummy treats while learning about: the rainforest, ethnobotany, chemistry, mathematics and measurement, ecology and environmental issues, home economics, nutrition, the oceans and more!” The kits are available for individual use or can be expanded. The expanded kits include “helpful information for teachers, parents, group leaders, and party planners who wish to expand on the material in the Make Your Own Candy Kits.
Sample lesson plans, online resources, and suggestions for making the Kits with large groups included.” Thus, children can learn about greener lifestyles while making a treat that they can enjoy later. The expanded kit would be an ideal project for girl guides, boys scouts etc… or a birthday party activity that will keep the kids engaged for a period of time.
So if you are interested in living ecofriendly and/or want to teach kids about greener lifestyles then Glee Gum might just be the product for you.
