Ecofriendly Living – 6 Tips To Use In Your Kitchen

A common sense approach to Ecofriendly living and saving money!bright-kitchen1

  1. Keep your fridge coils clean. Do you clean the back/underside of your fridge? If not, it might be working harder than it needs to run efficiently.
  2. Run your dishwasher only when it is full. Make sure you make the best use of the water and energy needed to run a dishwasher!
  3. Install sink water aerators. These cheap little things slow down the flow of water out of your sink, saving you money and saving us all water use.
  4. Make an all-purpose cleaner from vinegar and water. Check out the MIY Green Home Cleaning recipes on the Planet Forward site for other Make It Yourself recipe suggestions.
  5. Use washable rags instead of paper towels. Using old rags to clean up messes not only saves you a few bucks but also keeps paper out of the landfill.  Old t-shirts work wonders.
  6. Buy a convection oven. Using a convection oven for smaller meals instead of the big oven can save a ton of energy use.

Easy peasy, right?  These are only a few suggestions.  It’s almost a return to a simpler way of living.  A return to the “I remember when…” way of life.  Now we just need bus fare to be 10 cents and bread to be a nickel :)
