Ecofriendly Living – 6 Tips To Use In Your Kitchen
A common sense approach to Ecofriendly living and saving money!
- Keep your fridge coils clean. Do you clean the back/underside of your fridge? If not, it might be working harder than it needs to run efficiently.
- Run your dishwasher only when it is full. Make sure you make the best use of the water and energy needed to run a dishwasher!
- Install sink water aerators. These cheap little things slow down the flow of water out of your sink, saving you money and saving us all water use.
- Make an all-purpose cleaner from vinegar and water. Check out the MIY Green Home Cleaning recipes on the Planet Forward site for other Make It Yourself recipe suggestions.
- Use washable rags instead of paper towels. Using old rags to clean up messes not only saves you a few bucks but also keeps paper out of the landfill. Old t-shirts work wonders.
- Buy a convection oven. Using a convection oven for smaller meals instead of the big oven can save a ton of energy use.
Easy peasy, right? These are only a few suggestions. It’s almost a return to a simpler way of living. A return to the “I remember when…” way of life. Now we just need bus fare to be 10 cents and bread to be a nickel
