Eco-friendly Crafts for Adults – Repurpose Your Old Shirts
By
The three R’s (reduce, reuse and recycle) have always been the cornerstone of eco-friendly living and the same is true with this eco-friendly craft for adults. One of the steps you can take to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle is to repurpose your old clothes.
Here is a great eco-friendly craft for adults that comes courtesy of former Project Runway contestant Kevin Christiana who shared this little revamp secret on the Rachel Ray Show. Everyone has had a plain shirt, probably while and collard, that has been ruined with an ink stain or slight pen mark. The easiest thing to do was get rid of the shirt and buy another one. But not anymore. Here is another very cool option to add a graphic over the stain. This is a cool and chic way to repurpose your clothes and give them a trendy look at the same time. This eco-friendly craft tells you how to apply a simple graphic that will have the effect of a shirt tattoo. This is a new cool version of a tattoo, without adding glitter or an appliqué (unless that’s your thing).
What you need:
- Turpentine
- Gloves
- White shirt
- Spoon
- Paintbrush
- Photo copy of a favorite black and white graphic - you can find some on Kevin Christiana’s site here
What you do:
- Find a black and white design/ graphic that you like or created yourself.
- Get a photocopy of the graphic
- Place the sheet with the graphic facedown over the pen/marker stain
- Put on your gloves
- Brush the turpentine on the paper with the paintbrush
- Next take a spoon and rub over the piece of paper where the graphic is
- Gently peel off the paper from the shirt
- You have now transferred the graphic onto the shirt, wear and enjoy
You can add as many graphics as you want to complete you new look. This is a way to turn a stain into a great piece of repurposed tattooed fashion. Not all eco-friendly crafts are for kids, you know.

Thanks for this! This is an innovative way to re-purpose old shirts! We often throw away materials that can be recycled or re-used. Also it would be great if people could re-use and conserve water. http://j.mp/11Bwkv will give you some excellent tips on how to save water.
