Cargo Launches Eco-friendly Cosmetics
ByWhat do get when you mix celebrity glam and eco-friendly cosmetics? Plant Love™ Lipstick by Cargo. A celebrity favorite for years, Cargo has branched out into eco-friendly cosmetics with this new lipstick line. The stylish tubes are made from corn, which is recyclable and biodegradable and a huge step up the plastic that is usually the base of most lipstick containers.

Cargo says of the product “Plant Love™ lipsticks are certified by ECOCERT for being environmentally friendly in Product, Packaging, and Process. Just when you think it doesn’t get better than that, $2 from every celeb-designed lipstick goes to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.” Now, this is truly where celebrity meets eco-friendly cosmetics as five of these gorgeous shades were designed by celebrity Moms inspired by their children:
Faith by Angie Harmon- Grace by Angie Harmon
- Cherry Bliss by Kim Raver
- Lola by Denise Richards
- Sam by Denise Richards
Other celebrities that pitched in and designed another eight shades are, they are:
- Ageless by Robin McGraw
- Cece by Courteney Cox
- Evangeline by Evangeline Lilly
- Eve Pinky by Whitney Port
- Lindsay by Lindsay Lohan
- Maria by Maria Menounos
- Mariska by Mariska Hargitay
- Sarah by Sarah Chalke
This eco-friendly line by Cargo is stamped with the Sephora seal of approval as it boasts their “Naturally Sephora” logo. The “Natural Sephora” logo means that it meets their strict standards for what constitutes eco-friendly cosmetics. Beyond that, the 0.14 oz $20 USD/$22.86 CDN lipstick was named one of the 2009 InStyle Best Beauty Buys.
Maybe twenty dollars on a lipstick seems like a lot to the budget conscience majority, but it is one of the few little splurges you can enjoy in a recession without feeling guilty. This is would also make an eco-astute gift for the green goddess(es) in your life. A product that mixes celebrity, charity and the environment might just be setting the new standard in eco-friendly cosmetics.
