Eco Friendly Television Shows Fred Is The Greenest
Posted by: | CommentsEco Friendly Television Is Pronounced Yabba Dabba Doo!
When it comes to eco friendly television shows, I don’t think anything can come close to the original green family – The Flinstones. I recently saw an ad for the newly released DVD that proclaimed “Curious George Goes Green” and it got me thinking: 1) I really didn’t think George’s footprint was all that offensive and 2) the Flintstone’s have always been green. They are truly the first eco friendly television family. Sorry Ed Begley Jr.
I mean, the Prius may be considered the prized jewel in the eco friendly car crown but how can it even compete with Fred’s feet? “Let’s ride with the family down the street. Through the courtesy of Fred’s two feet.” Zero carbon emissions there. Flintstone’s 1 – Toyota 0 . We can break it down even futher:
Green Living Made Easy Flick On Flick Off
Posted by: | CommentsThere’s an easy way to start your path to green living, when you flick on remember to flick off.
If the lights are on when you exit an empty room, always remember to flick off the light switch. During the daytime, let in as much natural light as possible to avoid using unnecessary electricity. In my home, I completely avoid the use of lighting during the daytime and I’m a total minimalist for lighting in the evening. This not only saves energy, but saves on your utility bill as well. More importantly, it’s an essential basic step toward a greener lifestyle. It may sound insignificant, but if everyone flicked off, the impact would be huge. Read More→
Zen And The Art Of Green Cleaning
Posted by: | CommentsDoes an art of green cleaning even exist?

If so, can one really find Zen in it? Yes and yes. I think you can find art in any performed action. As for finding Zen, I think that’s exactly what you need to truly embrace green cleaning. To find Zen is to abandon preconceived ideas or notions. To be able to look at things anew with a fresh, clean mind. It’s about growth and change which is exactly in-keeping with green cleaning because it is about a new ideology. An ideological shift away from thinking you need harmful chemicals and toxins to properly clean your home and towards using natural healthy alternatives. Which leads me to another Zen element to the art of green cleaning, there is nothing materialistic about it. It’s about making and creating your own cleaners and solutions. Using a little elbow grease rather than giving in to marketers and taking the easier, unhealthy route. It’s about taking an enlightened approach to life that takes into account more than just immediate personal satisfaction. As the Cree Proverb states “we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”.
Cleaning will always be cleaning even if it’s green. I don’t know many who love doing it but nonetheless, it has to be done. You might as well find and appreciate the art in it and while you’re at it, embrace the Zen.
Do Bike Lanes Create A Green Living Problem For City Dwellers?
Posted by: | CommentsA Green Living Problem? I say roll on.
As I look around the city and see the masses kick off bike month by hitting the pavement with two wheels instead of four, I can’t help to wonder, are we just merely exchanging a pollution problem for what could become a green living problem? I mean there is only so much spare asphalt to go around. Some may think this green thing could become a problem.
